Activities
Reading Comprehension
While reading is good, the key is intentional reading, keeping an eye for new words, followup discussions about the story, characters, subject, summarizing etc. These will build engagement and in turn comprehension. We are happy to help children build on this.
Math/Reasoning
Math surrounds us..for some it is a joy and others confounding! It can be easily applied. We are here to help you apply, connect and play with it!
Art
Art reinforces color recognition,, allows a sensory outlet for shapes, spatial visualization, motor skills and social skills via group play, After school students will have the choice to delve into it further.
Languages
For the children who come from 2nd language backgrounds, this is a potential elective at additional cost. Two languages that can be offered are Spanish and Hindi. Talk to us if this option is of interest and for which particular language. Based on interest, onsite teacher can be organized.

Science or Cooking
With a live kitchen as our science lab, wednesday will include some active experimentation, learning botony, zoology, chemistry, matters of physics and more. The fun will be in attempting edible experiments!
Movement
Children by nature love to move. Preschool and after-school children will both participate in indoor or outdoor age appropriate movement activities like dance, exercise, yoga, or outdoor play.

Music
After-school students can pick learning a musical instrument as an elective at additional cost. Based on interest, onsite music teacher could be organized for.
Writing
Writing is a life long skill and one that each of us is constantly honing no matter the age. It is an art that takes practice and many forms like essay, narrative, story, journal, creative, etc. At Avid Kids Circle, we can help from the earliest of ages to be patient and comfortable writing and often re-writing.
World Around Us
World learning, culture, history all comes joined with science and cooking. Through eating international foods, after-school students along with preschool students will learn about our world, continents, countries, states, cities and more.
Outdoor Parks n Trails
One of the joys of living in an 'island' like Redwood Shores community is the parks, trails and open spaces available just steps away. We will take advantage of our outdoor environment through assisted walks or on wheels.
ISEE/SSAT Prep
Should you be considering a move to a private school from public school, preparing for the ISEE/SSAT test is an elective option during after-school. This would need additional time, and cost commitment. Talk to us about this.
