Happy Diwali!!

Diwali is a Festival of Lights celebrated by Hindus across the world. Like the Chinese Lunar New Year, Diwali kicks off the Hindu New Year. It is a 5-day festival and the Goddess of Wealth Lakshmi is worshipped along with celebrating the victory of good (Lord Ram) over evil (Demon King Ravan). Mythology aside, the essence of the festival is dressing up in new clothes, wishing one another, community spirit, lighting up houses with lamps/lights and most of all a lot of eating!

The children were exposed to eats across Friday and today.  We danced, made clay lamps, painted them and enjoyed some festive spirit in the classroom. We wish each family joy, peace and prosperity in all that is undertaken.  The little tea lights have certainly caught everybody’s fancy...may each of the little ones shine and create their unique luminescence.

Halloween is up next. The school house is ready and decorated for Halloween this Thursday, Oct 31. Please plan to have children dress up and come to school. They should wear regular clothes under the costumes so they can take the costume off post outdoor time. The request is to keep the costumes along peaceful themes. No face makeup please.

Reminder for the next holiday on Monday, November 11 for Veterans Day.
