Snail Song

With the snail experience yesterday and the Lion Dance/mask talk, I decided to indulge in a snail mask project with the kids. I also read and shared some basic facts about snails. Given children at these young ages learn when sung musically, I made up an impromptu snail song which we ended up singing at group time and humming during the day. Here goes along the tune of ‘Where is Thumbkin?’.
Snails are mollusks
Snails are mollusks
They have heads
They have heads
They have little tails too
They have little tails too
And a big shell
And a big shell
Where do snails live?
Where do snails live?
On land and water
On land and water
What do the snails eat?
What do the snails eat?
Leaves, flowers or bugs
Leaves, flowers or bugs
How do snails breathe?
How do snails breathe?
With lungs or gills
With lungs or gills
How do the snails walk?
How do the snails walk?
They crawl around
They crawl around
Snails are our friends
Snails are our friends
Let them be
Let them be
On ground or in water
On ground or in water
Let them be
Let them be
<Repeat>Snails are mollusks...
Enjoy the weekend. Do spy your ‘snail’ child below or play peek-a-boo with the snail mask singing the snail song :)
See you on Monday.
