Well, it seems like our famous fog also gave the Solar Eclipse some hiding. I hope the keen viewers with the glasses caught some of that eclipse!
We stayed indoors and talked about the eclipse instead and how the moon traveled and came between sun and earth to cover the sun...we mimicked the movement with our hands. I explained it takes years for this to happen. The topic came up since the children were curious why the blinds were down and then also why we are staying indoors.
Children enjoyed coloring and painting their clay figurines instead of going out in the morning. We did our calendar work as a group and also read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle, '5 Little Lady Bugs' by Melanie Gerth and 'Giraffe Can't Dance' by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees. We tried to dance to our own music like Gerald the Giraffe.
Make your own sandwiches was quite a hit. They all enjoyed constructing their sandwiches and once cut, they deconstructed them and ate things in their own order. Sandwiches had to be eaten and the chips was the treat once finished. Each of them did a good job eating with enjoyment and care.
Post rest and snack, we went out to the park to enjoy some sunshine and came back just in time for pickup!
We have one kid down with a fever that started on Sunday. We missed her and send get well wishes her way.
Take care all. See you tomorrow.
